Marina one-stop shop caters to needs of shipowners
Iloilo City (31 August 2005) -- Ship owners and operators need not go farther anymore in securing all documents required to be able to operate securely, legally and within the bounds of law as the Maritime Industry Authority’s (MARINA) one-stop-shop will cater to all these needs.

The effort is part of the implementation of Republic Act 9295 known as “An Act Promoting the Development of Philippine Domestic Shipping, Shipbuilding, and Shiprepair and Ship Breaking, Ordaining Reforms in Government Policies Towards Shipping in the Philippines” which started in January this year. RA 9295 was signed and approved into law on May 3, 2004.

One of the main objectives of RA 9295 is to develop a strong and competitive domestic merchant fleet owned and controlled by Filipinos or by corporations at least sixty percent (60%) of which is owned by Filipinos and manned by qualified Filipino officers and crew. It functions as an employment base for our Filipino Seafarers.

The law also gives the Domestic Shipping Operators certain leeways and freedom in their business operations and encourages the improvement and upgrading of the existing domestic merchant marine fleet and Filipino crew to meet international standards. Other best feature is it ensures the development of a viable shipbuilding and ship repair industry to support the expansion and modernization of the Philippine domestic merchant marine fleet and its strict adherence to safety standards which will ensure the seaworthiness of all sea-borne structures.

The enactment of the law is perceived as a timely move by the present administration in terms of helping out the modernization and innovation processes of the Philippine Shipping Industry. (MARINA/PIA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
