Shellfish Ban in Puerto Princesa City
« on: July 24, 2009, 04:37:33 PM »
The shellfish ban imposed earlier due to red tide contamination was lifted in Honda Bay, Barangay Sta. Lourdes.

A spokesperson of the City Health Office (CHO) said the ban was lifted after several tests conducted on collected shellfish meat samples by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and the City Agriculturist Office (CAO) turned negative of any harmful algal bloom contamination.

“Shellfish vendors can now go back to their businesses because there’s no more red tide,” the spokesperson said.

Honda Bay in Sta. Lourdes, a small community of coastal residents, is one of the biggest sources of shellfishes being sold at two public markets in Puerto Princesa.

Three weeks ago, Mayor Edward S. Hagedorn’ office released an administrative order imposing a ban on the selling of shellfish due to red tide contamination in Honda Bay. (PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
