DINALUPIHAN, Bataan -- Police officers, who tested positive for drugs, have no place in the Philippine National Police organization.
This was the stern warning of PNP-Police Regional Office director, Chief Superintendent Amador V. Corpus, as he disclosed that several policemen have already been removed from service after they tested positive for drugs.
In fact, Corpus said he will recommend the immediate dismissal of a police officer from Nueva Ecija and another from Angeles City (Pampanga) who tested positive in a recently-concluded drug test.
“I would prefer a former drug addict of becoming a police officer rather than a policeman who turned drug addict. The one that came from Bahay Pagbabago who turned into a policeman is better than a police officer who became drug addict (sic)," he said.
He urged qualified graduates from the Bahay Pagbabago Reformation Center in Dinalupihan to apply as the PNP needs 10,000 police officers next year.
“General Bato (PNP Director General Ronald Dela Rosa) would be happy if there is a former drug addict that applied to become police,” he said.
Corpus was in this town with Senior Superintendent Benjamin Silo, Jr., Bataan police director, and other guests to attend the first anniversary of the Bahay Pagbabago Reformation Center in Barangay San Benito.
Also in attendance were officials from the Department of Health, Department of Labor and Employment and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority. Bataan 1st District Rep. Geraldine Roman also graced the occasion.
Mayor Maria Angela Garcia said 400 drug surrenderers in Dinalupihan graduated in nine batches in one year since the drug reformation center started operation on Oct. 14, 2016. The mayor scheduled a job fair for the former drug dependents.
“Bahay Pagbabago is like a nipa hut. A home that values family where there are love and responsibilities of the parents to their children and the society," she said.
"The Bahay Pagbabago is not only for drug surrenderers but for all of us who must change to solve together the ill of the society which is illegal drugs," Garcia added.
Dolphy Quizon, Jr. sang inspirational songs and delivered a heart-warming message that made graduates and guests teary-eyed. (PNA)
