MMDA starts stricter implementation of nose in, nose out policy for provincial buses
By Aerol B. Patena

MANILA, Jan. 10 (PNA) -- The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will start Tuesday apprehending violators of the nose in nose out policy for provincial buses traveling along EDSA and other major thoroughfares in Metro Manila.

MMDA General Manager Thomas Orbos warned bus operators and drivers that they will be issued traffic tickets in case they were found to have violated the policy.

The nose in nose out policy requires buses to enter and exit their terminals and not to load or unload passengers along major roads in the metropolis which causes traffic congestion.

“We will be strict on implementing the nose in nose out policy as this will ease traffic congestion in Metro Manila,” Orbos said during the inspection of bus terminals along EDSA-Tramo to check their compliance to the nose in nose out policy.

The MMDA chief said that apprehended buses would be checked for possible violations such as lack of valid franchises.

Violators will be issued a Unified Ordinance Violation Receipt for obstruction and disregarding traffic sign, and will be slapped with the corresponding penalty.

The licenses of drivers will also be suspended and bus terminals will be closed in cases of repeated violations.

Orbos earlier said nine out of 16 terminals lacked the back entry or garage space to comply with the policy.

He said he was elated that most of the bus companies have agreed to support the initiative by demolishing walls that serve as hindrances for adjacent bus terminals while others have agreed to rent terminals for their buses.

The MMDA is set to coordinate with the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) for its proposal for a common terminal for provincial buses. (PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
