De Lima did not stay in Nicolas-Lewis' home
MANILA, Jan. 10 (PNA) -- Sen. Leila de Lima on Tuesday denied that she stayed in the home of Filipino-American billionaire and philanthropist Loida Nicolas-Lewis, who was tagged in the alleged plot of supporters of Vice Pres. Leni Robredo to oust Pres. Rodrigo Duterte.
De Lima came to her own defense after Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre claimed that De Lima did stay in Lewis’ home last December.
“I went to the US to receive that award from the Foreign Policy, so my accommodation was care of the organizers,†De Lima told reporters in a interview.
To recall, De Lima flew to the US last December to receive an award from American magazine Foreign Policy which cited her as one of the 100 leading global thinkers of 2016 for her efforts to probe extrajudicial killings in the Philippines.
De Lima was honored as one of the 13 global thinkers in the “Challengers†category under the 100 leading global thinkers for this year.
After her trip to the US, De Lima also flew to Berlin, Germany to discuss human rights in a forum called the Annual Conference on Cultural Diplomacy.
The neophyte senator meanwhile called Aguirre a “liar†anew. (PNA)
