FIGHT FOR REALIGNMENT
LOOK: Environment advocates said on Friday, October 28 that they will continue to fight for the realignment of the Samal Island - Davao City (SIDC) Connector project or the Davao-Samal Bridge.
During a press conference at the Ateneo de Davao University, the Save Samal Reefs Alliance emphasized they do not oppose the construction of the bridge but realignment is needed to save the thriving 100-year-old Paradise Reef in the Island Garden City of Samal.
“Maapektuhan talaga ang corals diyan. Do you know how many years it takes for corals to become dense or to build up? It will take many years only for it to be destroyed in a few months,” said Dr. Fred Medina, Commissioner of the Philippine Commission on Sports Scuba Diving.
