PNA: When typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng hit the Luzon provinces last year and this city was also gravely affected, the city government of Santiago braces its effect to its residents using its limited disaster manpower and equipments in its rescue operations.
Assessing the damages wrought by these two super typhoons in the city, the city government formed a disaster and management office aimed at concentrating to the immediate responses to the needy citizens in times of calamities.
The former chief of the Department of Public Order and Safety Office Mr Claro Comoda was designated to head the office and initially used the existing equipments in its rescue operations then emerged its code-name 'Rescue 206', the name of rescue team of Santiago City disaster and management office..
Santiago City's 'Rescue 206' are responding to man-made and natural calamity victims giving immediate first-aids by its trained rescue personnel and transporting the victims using its newly acquired ambulances including a heavy heavy-duty fire-truck while there were also five rubber boats in using to flooded residents who are near the flood-prone areas.
Mr Claro Comoda said that he admitted the challenging role to head the newly-created office and the emergence of the 'Rescue 206' to help its constituents from hazard situations.
