LUCENA CITY, Quezon -- Car theft and robbery cases in Quezon province declined by 2.95 percent as police “war on hard drugs” bagged some 25,097 drug surrenderers in the past first nine months this year, a police report disclosed on Thursday.
Senior Superintendent Rhoderick Armamento, Quezon Police Provincial Office Director, reported to the joint Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) and Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) meeting that while the crime rate has declined, the traffic incidents have increased by 5.34 percent during the same period under review.
Armamento also said the crime solution efficiency increased by 61.01 percent, including the corresponding 49.10 percent increase in their crime clearance efficiency rate in the province.
He said efforts in their anti-drug campaign have netted the 25,097 drug surrenderers which led to the declaration of the towns of Plaridel, Pitogo, Macalelon, General Luna and Quezon as drug-cleared municipalities.
The anti-drug campaign, including drug rehabilitation program for surrenderers are supported by the “Yakap Bayan” and “Project USAD” in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), provincial government, local government units, civil society organizations and the religious sector on their counseling and reformation programs.
