ASINGAN, Pangasinan — A person with disability (PWD) here has been sewing personal protective equipment (PPE) suits and face masks for front-liners for free amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
Samuel Villoria, president of PWD Federation in this town, produces at least eight PPE suits daily with the materials provided by Vice Mayor Heidee Chua, Councilor Alra Chua, and Nieves Pascua Bates, a private citizen here.
“Kasi sabi nila pag tumulong ka sa kapwa ng taos puso, mas maganda kaysa yung wala ka naman maitutulong puro ka reklamo. Tumulong ka na lang (They said it is better to help from the heart to your fellow instead of complaining and not helping at all),” Villoria said as posted by the Public Information Office (PIO) Asingan in its Facebook page on Thursday.
Since he started offering his service for free, Villoria was able to produce 80 PPE suits for front-liners.
Villoria was also able to produce more than 100 face masks that were donated to the front-liners in the town’s Rural Health Unit, Philippine National Police, and barangays.
“Let us just help (in any way we can) and let us be a part of the solution and not a part of the problem. For me, I guess it is better to help than complain,” he said.
Villoria became a PWD when he encountered an accident that led to the amputation of his right leg. He is a tailor of uniforms in the town. (PNA)
