TUGUEGARAO CITY -- The people of Tuguegarao City will be given full opportunity to celebrate the Pavvulurun Afi Festival 2017 on Wednesday as the Palace declared a non-working holiday here.
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, through Executive Secretary Salvador C. Medialdea, signed proclamation No. 272 declaring August 16 as a special non-working holiday in this city in line with the Pavvulurun celebration, a fire-themed festival.
Tuguegarao Mayor Benben De Guzman earlier requested for the day be a special non-working day in the city.
The people of Tuguegarao City be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies and allow students and employees to enjoy and participate as the city marks another year of merry making, De Guzman added.
The city government showcases the Ibanag culture and tradition in the celebration of Pavvulurun Afi Festival the highlight of its 293rd patronal fiesta from Aug. 11-17.
Pavvulurun is an Ibanag word which means "get together," that gathers residents and visitors to a week-long festival culminating with a mass and procession in honor of St. Hyacinth, the city's patron saint. (PNA) (Photo by Tuguegarao CIPC)
