The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Bicol has allowed vessels bound to Visayas to sail from the
Port of Matnog in Sorsogon where 2,000 passengers where stranded following the onset of typhoon Lawin during the weekend.
The Coast Guard lifted the “no sailing†at around 5 a.m. Monday when Public Storm Warning Signal one in the Samar provinces was lifted to normal, Bernardo Alejandro Office of Civil Defense (OCD) regional director said on Monday.
The Coast Guard also permitted the transport of 136 trucks, 64 cars, and 43 buses, all are bound for Samar.
The Philippine Atmospheric and Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA)said that as of 7a.m. Monday, typhoon Lawin (Jelewat) was located 420 Km East of Virac, Catanduanes.
PAGASA said Lawin has maintained its strength with a maximum winds of 175 KPH near the center and gustiness of up to 210kph as it moves north northwest at 7 kph.
Mimaropa, Bicol, Visayas and Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with occasional moderate to heavy rains which may trigger flash floods and landslides.
