Still no let-up in drive against drugs - Cabanatuan City police
CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija, Jan. 12 (PNA) -- Two persons believed to be supplying illegal drugs to bar goers yielded different kinds of chemicals in a buy bust operation in front of a bar along Quimzon St., Barangay Quezon District here around 3 a.m. Thursday.
Supt. Ponciano Zafra, city police chief, said that suspects John Michael Torroca, 23, tricycle driver, resident of Camp Tinio and Aileen Ignacio, 31, vendor, of Lexber Homes Subdivision, Barangay Bangad, both of this city, was nabbed by operatives in front of Hide Out Bar with eight sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride), one sachet of dried marijuana leaves and a suspected Ecstasy tablet.
It was learned that Quimzon street hosts a number of karaoke bars that have become a favorite night place among youth.
Zafra said the arrest of the duo was a result of stepped-up intelligence work against illegal drugs operation in the city.
"We will not stop until we eliminate the illegal drugs problem," Zafra said.
At almost the same time Wednesday, combined operatives from the city police and the Provincial Public Safety Company arrested a certain Nathaniel Sy, 23, of De Guzman Subdivision, also of this city and two 17-year-old girls for alleged pushing and possession of 7.2 kilograms of marijuana leaves.
Another suspect, Raymart Bacuna, of Camp 7, Baguio City who was believed to be the supplier, eluded arrest though.
The leaves, with an estimated street value of PHP180,000, was the biggest catch of its kind here so far, according to Zafra.
The suspects were detained at the city police facility facing charges of violation of Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Law. (PNA)
