Nueva Vizcaya – A Novo Vizcayana who migrated to the United States in 1988 and now serving as regional administrator of the US Social Security Administration was among those chosen to be on this year’s “Who’s Who in the Asian American Community†(WWAAC) in the Southeastern US.
Mary Jane Basilio-Rolen, together with three other Filipinos, will be receiving her award on July 21, 2007 at a gala dinner in Atlanta, Georgia.
Fifty outstanding Asian-Americans from the states of Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, North and South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia will be honored.
A portion of the proceeds from the gala dinner will be donated to the Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund (APIASF), the only national organization that promotes the pursuit of higher education among Asian and Pacific Islander American students through scholarships to qualified first-year undergraduates on the tertiary level and to those taking up vocational courses.
Rolen has been executive assistant for the Social Security Administration Regional Commissioner of the Atlanta Region since May 2004. She began her Social Security career as a claims representative in Asheville, North Carolina in 1998.
Rolen is also the regional chair of the Pacific Asian American Advisory Council (PAAAC) of SSA as well as PAAAC’s national vice-chair for field offices.
