KALIBO, Aklan -- The Department of Information Communication and Technology (DICT) is pushing for a digital economy under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.
In his speech Monday morning, Undersecretary Monchito Ibrahim of the DICT said they hope to implement the digital economy program for 2018.
"Under the digital economy, all our national government programs and services would be made available online," Ibrahim said.
Ibrahim was here for the launching of the province's Aklan Technology Business Incubation Center/Rural Impact Sourcing Hub and Tech4Ed Center.
Acting DICT Secretary Eliseo Rio Jr., Cluster Director of DICT-Western Visayas Frederick Amores, and Aklan Governor Florencio Miraflores were present during the launch.
For her part, Gabrielle Calizo-Quimpo, executive director of the Aklan ICT Council, said the province is now included in the next wave of cities under the DICT.
"This means we are currently open for investment and locators who would like to invest in the province for a BPO industry," Quimpo said. (Jun Aguirre/PNA)
