ConGen turns over USD5,000 token to group assisting distressed Filipinos in Los Angeles

MANILA, Jan. 3 (PNA) -- The Department of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday said the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles turned over a USD5,000 check to the Pilipino Worker’s Center (PWC) at the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles.

Consul General Adelio Angelito S. Cruz said the money is a token reimbursement for their efforts in assisting Filipino nationals in distress in Los Angeles.

Ms. Lolita Lledo, Associate Director of PWC received the check on behalf of the Center in the presence of Deputy Consul General Ambrocio Brian Enciso, Vice Consul Dyan Kristine M. Pastrana, Malou Villacisneros, Ian Kamus, Myrla Baldonado, Tess Sattar, Amelia Barnachea, Carmen Lee, and Celestina Magallon.

PWC is one of the Consulate General’s key partners in its work on Assistance to Nationals (ATN).

It is a non-profit community organization, which assists Filipino workers in labor-related matters, particularly on Filipinos working in the caregiving and home care industry.

During the meeting, PWC discussed its ongoing projects. PWC also identified the EMPLEO Pinoy Program, manning the hotline 1-877-TULONG1, as a crucial component in addressing the concerns of overseas Filipinos.

The EMPLEO Pinoy program is one of the projects being undertaken by the center in partnership with the Consulate General, US federal agencies, and other non-government organizations.

The Philippine Consulate General aims to strengthen its partnership with PWC in providing much-needed assistance to Filipino nationals in Los Angeles, especially to OFWs in distress. (PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
