Department of Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz Tuesday said that the Philippines will host the 13th Coordinating Board Meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations-Occupational Safety and Health Network (ASEAN OSHNET) on April 18-19, 2012 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Makati City.
Baldoz made the announcement after being briefed by Executive Director Ma. Teresita S. Cucueco of the DOLE's Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC) on the preparations for the Philippines' hosting of the event. The OSHC serves as the secretariat of the meeting.
"There will be 25 delegates from the ASEAN OSHNET member-countries who have confirmed their attendance to this important event, including two from the Philippines," said Baldoz.
The labor and employment chief said Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, Korean Safety and Health Association (KOSHA), and the ASEAN Services Trade Union Council (ASETUC) have already confirmed their participation.
Dr. Cucueco reported to Baldoz that the OSHC has also invited other occupational health and safety experts to speak before the meeting.
"The International Labor Organization and the International Association of Labour Inspectors (IALI) are also expected to join and participate," she said, adding that a representative of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) will do a “virtual presentation†via
Skype.
