Two civilians were wounded when their house was
hit by a stray rifle grenade fired by rebels at an Army detachment in Purok 2, Barangay Malamodao, Maco, Compostela Valley Thursday morning.
Major Rosa Maria Christina Manuel, executive officer of the 10th Civil-Military Operations Battalion based in Camp Panacan, this city, identified the victims as Rosena Camporedondo 44, and her son Andy, 16, of Purok 2, Barangay Malamodao, Maco
town.
Manuel said the victims were wounded after the rebels opened fire at around 6:20 a.m. on an Army detachment, using a rifle grenade which consequently missed the target and instead hit the house of the victims located several meters away.
Manuel said the victims were rushed to the Davao Regional Hospital in Tagum City for treatment.
Lt. Col. Camilo Ligayo, commanding officer of the 71st Infantry Battalion, chided the rebels for the attack.
