2 MORE PHILIPPINE EAGLES RELEASED INTO LEYTE FORESTS
BURAUEN, Leyte — In a significant step toward conserving the critically endangered national bird, the Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF) released two more Philippine eagles into the Anonang-Lobi mountain range on Thursday. Kalatungan I, a 3-year-old male, took flight first at 9:32 a.m., followed by 11-year-old female Lyra Sinabadan at 10:37 a.m. Both eagles, rescued in Bukidnon and transported to Leyte in March, are the second mated pair released under the foundation’s reintroduction program. This follows the historic first release in June 2024 and forms part of ongoing efforts to restore Philippine eagle populations in the province.
