« on: October 13, 2008, 01:58:15 PM »
Two Army soldiers were killed when the single motorcycle they were riding collided head on with a double cab pick-up along the national highway in Kilometer 5, Barangay Tabo, Bislig City, a report to the Northeastern Mindanao Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) at Camp Rafael C. Rodriguez here on Monday stated.

Senior Supt. Nestor M. Fajura, chief of operation and plans division of PRO 13, identified the victims as Sgt. Maximo O. Salonia and Pfc. Melvin G. Yanga, both members of 23rd Infantry Battallion.

They were rushed to Bislig City Hospital but died after an hour of confinement, Senior Supt. Fajura said, quoting a spot report from Bislig City Police Office.

The road accident happened at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Initial investigation disclosed that a double pick-up with plate number LGA-254 registered under MG Mining and Energy Corporation and driven by Rodulfo T. Calalay was descending at the curve and inclined road towards Pamaypayan area when it met the motorcycle driven by Sgt. Salonia which was allegedly trying to overtake a passenger bus, resulting in the collision.
