The Philippine Air Force (PAF) starts the year 2011 with the roll-out of additional air assets.
Five refurbished POTUS (President of the United States) Program (UH-1H) utility helicopters will be turned over to the PAF on Monday at the Villamor Air Base Grandstand in Pasay City, said Air Force spokesman Lt. Col. Miguel Ernesto Okol.
He said U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines Harry Thomas will turn over the aircraft to Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin and to AFP chief Gen. Ricardo A. David.
Air Force Chief Lt. Gen. Oscar H. Rabena will then receive the documents and subsequently present it to incumbent 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing Commander, Brig. Gen. Virgilio O. Domingo.
Okol said the blessing of the air assets will immediately follow the turnover before the batch will be declared operationally ready for mission dispatch.
The helicopters arrived in a shipment last Dec. 18 and were accepted by the PAF Technical Inspection and Acceptance Committee (TIAC).
“The newest acquisition were test-flown and declared in operational status following the completion of rigid test flights conducted at 410th Maintenance Wing in Clark Air Base,†said Okol. - pna
