MANILA – Some 166 stranded or displaced overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Central Luzon have received cash assistance amounting to PHP1.6 million, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) reported.
Based on the reports of OWWA-Regional Welfare Office Ill (RWO 3), it has released the amount to OFWs who each received a one-time cash assistance worth PHP10,000 (USD200) under the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Abot Kamay ang Pagtulong (AKAP) program on its initial week.
“The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Regional Welfare Office Ill (OWWA RWO 3) released PHP1,660,00 to 166 stranded or displaced overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Central Luzon through the ‘DOLE-AKAP for OFWs’ Financial Assistance on its first week,” it said in a statement.
The program was designed to assist displaced land-based and sea-based, returning workers who were stranded in the Philippines.
Also included in the program are undocumented OFWs who have experienced job displacement due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
An online application was created to cater to OFWs who are affected by the enhanced community quarantine.

http://dole-akap.owwa.gov.ph, fill out the online form and attach necessary documents needed,” the OWWA-RWO 3 added.
All received applications are continuously being evaluated and processed by OWWA and DOLE. (PNA)
