COTABATO CITY -- More than P100 million worth of prohibited drugs had been seized by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-ARMM) from January to July, this year.
Of 70 PDEA-led anti-drug operations, 140 persons engaged in illegal drugs have been arrested out of 495 target drug personalities in the provinces of Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur and Cotabato City, PDEA-ARMM jurisdiction.
Of 495 targets, 72 were high value targets. Five have been killed for resisting arrest and four drug dens were dismantled.
Director Juvenal Asuzin of PDEA-ARMM said almost 15 kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride were seized during the first seven months of operation.
Azurin said 14 kilos were seized in a series of raids in Marawi City, months before the terrorist attacked the city.
Azurin told reporters that PDEA will continue its mandated task of neutralizing drug syndicates in its area of jurisdiction.(PNA)
