The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), in collaboration with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), successfully conducted a routine maritime patrol in the vicinity of Bajo de Masinloc on December 19, 2024. This reaffirms commitment to safeguarding the welfare and security of Filipino fishermen in the area.
The PCG vessels BRP Teresa Magbanua and BRP Cabra provided food packs to Filipino fishermen operating near Bajo de Masinloc, where about 40 fishing boats were observed.
BFAR patrol aircraft reported two China Coast Guard vessels outside the shoal, seven Chinese militia vessels nearby, two stationed inside monitoring access, and a People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) vessel 50 nautical miles off Zambales.
The PCG and BFAR continue to prioritize the safety and rights of Filipino fishermen while promoting peaceful maritime operations in the West Philippine Sea.
