LEGAZPI CITY -- A 74-year-old Covid-19 patient here died on Sunday night at the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH), bringing to two the coronavirus disease 2019-caused deaths in Bicol, the Department of Health (DOH) office in the region said on Monday.
Dr. Ernie Vera, DOH regional director and Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) chairperson, said the elderly, who was diabetic, hypertensive and suffering from ischemic heart disease, was admitted at the BRTTH isolation facility last April 14 and tested positive for Covid-19.
“The victim from Albay was the second death case following the first mortality case in Camarines Sur where a 66-year-old male died of the disease, he said in an interview.
The report said that as of Sunday, there are 25 Covid-19 cases in Bicol.
Vera reiterated his call to the public to continue the fight against Covid-19. "We are at war with an invisible enemy which to this day stays unpredictable as cases are still increasing which means that we should always keep our shields up,” he said. (PNA)
