SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique -- San Jose de Buenavista Mayor Elmer Untaran on Thursday said the PHP160M boulevard being constructed here will be the next tourist attraction in his hometown.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Barangay Comon to Barangay San Pedro coastal road upgrading project was held on Wednesday and construction started on Thursday by the International Builders Corporation (IBS).
The road project is expected to be completed in a year.
The road has a length of 4.1 kilometers spanning along the beautiful beach of San Jose de Buenavista which is being frequented by people who love to swim and is also a popular place to hold family picnic.
The coastal road upgrading project is the realization of a long-time dream of Antiquenos to have a boulevard and concrete coastal road in the area.
Antique Gov. Rhodora J Cadiao together with Mayor Elmer Untaran, Vice Governor Edgar Denosta and former Governor Salvacion Zaldivar Perez, who represented Senator Loren Legarda led the groundbreaking.
Cadiao on Wednesday said this will be a new tourist attraction in Antique, now considered as the “rising star” of Western Visayas due to numerous infrastructure development. (PNA)
