LEGAZPI CITY -- Over 400 individuals were arrested for violating curfew and other guidelines of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) measure in the island province of Catanduanes since last month, the Philippine National Police provincial office said.
Col. Paul Abay, provincial police director, said that in a report for the period March 17 to April 19, some 426 persons were caught loitering during curfew hours in their respective communities.
"Catanduanes province has 11 towns. Most of the violators caught were from the town of Virac with 174 violators, followed by Bato, 80; Viga, 58; San Andres, 28; Pandan, 22; Bagamanoc, 19; and San Miguel with 10; while the rest of the five towns have only few violators," he said.
The Catanduanes provincial government declared a total lockdown in March as a preemptive measure against the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019. (PNA)
