OPS to be revived, to replace PCOO - Andanar

MANILA, March 1 (PNA) -- The Office of the Press Secretary (OPS) will soon be revived to replace the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO).

This was announced by PCOO Secretary Jose Ruperto Martin Andanar, at the celebration of the 44th anniversary of Philippine News Agency (PNA) and the blessing of the newly-renovated International Press Center (IPC), located at the National Press Club (NPC) Building, in Intramuros, Manila on Wednesday.

"On the desk of the President right now is the Executive Order reverting back to the Office of the Press Secretary...antayin lang natin na mapirmahan and then we can officially release that, at the same time, bubuhayin lahat ahensya especially News and Information Bureau (NIB), PNA...this is a good start," he said.

At the same time, Andanar acknowledged those behind the PNA for being there and experiencing "the evolution of the tools for communication--from the humble typewriter to the dizzying development in today's technology, highlighted by the myriad amazing real possibilities offered by the Internet and various gadgets."

"From an era of tele-type news wire operations when PNA was launched more than four decades ago to a web-based news wire service it has become in 2003, it is not only the changes in form and means, but also the challenges of the news information that should make the PNA remain relevant and crucial, in this case, to the administration of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte," he said.

The government official added, "As a reliable arm of the government, you have to echo PRRDs message: No to drugs, criminality , and corruption in government. Yes to efficient, cheerful, and speedy service to the public. Make known to the general public the accomplishments of the Duterte administration from the war on drugs to the production of the environment, labor, and agricultural workers, to the sovereign foreign relations. To reiterate your theme, 'Tell Stories that Inspire Change.'"

The PNA has 18 bureaus in different provinces in the country namely: Tuguegarao, Dagupan, Baguio, San Fernando (Pampanga), Legazpi, Tacloban, Iloilo, Cebu, Bacolod, Dumaguete, Puerto Prinsesa, Antique, Laoag, Cagayan de Oro, Zamboanga, Davao, Cotabato and General Santos.

The IPC and PNA are attached agencies of the NIB, which is under the PCOO.

Meanwhile, at the celebration of the founding anniversary of PNA, Dir. Virginia Arcilla-Agtay announced that the new website of the news service of the government will be launched mid March.

The new website will be faster and easy to use; mobile responsive; social media fee and sharing and photo and video capable.

The current PNA website was launched 14 years ago.

The goals of the new website: to provide accurate and timely news its partner agencies; to become a globally competitive news website platform; to reach a wider audience world-wide through website and mobile app (coming soon) and to be more appealing to millennials who are social media savvy. John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
