Nueva Vizcaya politicians sign peace covenant for clean, peaceful polls
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Jan. 15 (PNA) -- Provincial and municipal candidates here on Thursday signed a peace covenant to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of the upcoming May 2016 national and local elections in the country.
The covenant signing was participated by political candidates from the provincial and municipal levels led by congressional candidates former governor Luisa Cuaresma, incumbent governor Ruth Padilla, gubernatorial candidates former vice governor Jose Gambito and incumbent Representative Carlos Padilla.
The activity which was also highlighted by a Walk for Peace from Solano to Bayombong was spearheaded by the Commission on Elections(COMELEC), Department of Interior and Local Government(DILG), Department of Education(DepEd) and the Philippine National Police(PNP), among others.
The covenant signing encourages candidates to support the conduct of a free, orderly, honest, peaceful and credible elections in the province.
It also upholds the conduct of the candidates for clean electoral campaign, fairness, common decency, honesty and good faith. (PNA)
