BALANGA CITY, Bataan – For three straight days, the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in Bataan remained at 81, the Provincial Health Office reported on Thursday.
Governor Albert Garcia considered this as good news and expressed the hope that infections brought about by the deadly virus will continue to be on a downtrend.
The same number of 15 recoveries and four deaths also remain.
Dr. Rosanna Buccahan, chief of the Provincial Health Office (PHO), said since the declaration on January 31 of the first suspected Covid-19 case in Bataan, 1,116 people have undergone laboratory test for the virus.
Of this number, 444 were found negative of coronavirus and the rest are still awaiting the results.
Both Garcia and Buccahan advised residents to stay in their homes and take extra precautions to prevent contracting Covid-19.
Meanwhile, Garcia thanked the Bataan Filipino–Chinese Chamber of Commerce for donating 10 boxes of personal protective equipment and 5,000 face mask; the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers for isolation gowns; and Philippine Resins Industries Inc. for face shields and face masks for the province's front-liners.
