TUGUEGARAO CITY -- Bright pink-colored line markings were applied by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to control blatant parking of vehicles along Santiago-Tuguegarao Road (STR) in Roxas, Isabela.
District Engineer Reynato Ubiña,of the DPWH - Isabela Second District Engineering Office (DPWH-ISDEO), has said that experimental use of pink- colored paint aims to call attention of motorists who normally ignore conventional white edge markings and rampantly park along roads and sidewalks.
“We painted the edge lines in pink which we think is more noticeable to catch the attention of motorists. The bright-colored edge lines will show the limits of the road boundaries, separating the sidewalks intended for pedestrians. This will also ward off illegal vendors loitering along the national road,” Ubina said.
In the monitoring conducted by DPWH, the application of pink edge lines gained positive results as traffic congestion along the road stretch was significantly reduced. (PNA)
