SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique -- The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) has identified Antique as the pilot area to host “Experience Antique Village” which will showcase the unique culture, lifestyle and replicas of various tourist destinations in the province.
In an interview Monday, Antique Governor Rhodora Cadiao said the project will be a small Nayong Pilipino in Antique that will be a show window of what tourists can enjoy in the province.
Glad to be the first recipient of this kind of project by the NCCA, Cadiao said she will be soon signing the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on the project.
Antique Tourism Officer Ramlu Villaluna said the NCCA will fund the construction while the provincial government will provide the lot where the village will be put up.
Construction of the village is eyed this October and expected to be completed in December in time for the Binirayan Festival.
A seven-hectare land at Igbucagay village in Hamtic town is the proposed site for the project.
To date, the Provincial Tourism Office and the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) are planting flowers along the roadside in the area.
Cadiao said she envisions a gemstone-inspired swimming pool will be put up inside the village for tourists. Gemstones are abundant in San Remigio and Sibalom towns. (PNA)
