ILOILO CITY -- Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Iloilo will once again showcase their products during the Fourth “Weekend Tienda sa Iloilo”.
"Weekend Tienda sa Iloilo" is a venue to bring the best Ilonggo cuisine and delicacies available to locals and visitors.
Spearheaded by the Regional Development Council (RDC) in Western Visayas, in partnership with Taytay Sa Kauswagan Inc. (TSKI), the event is slated September 15-17 at Atria Park in this City.
Cherry Ganancial, executive director of Tinukib Foundation Inc., a marketing arm of the TSKI, said the event will help farmers and producers promote quality products packaged well in order to make them improve as an enterprise, become more competent and even gain market opportunities.
As of now, 53 exhibitors have committed to join the event. Ganancial encouraged more local farmers and producers to join the event and showcase their products as they have 60 slots intended for them.
The exhibitors will display their homegrown food products, handcrafted gift items, artworks of local artists, organic and certified natural farm fresh poultry, vegetables, fruits, fisheries and aquaculture products from the various municipalities in the province of Iloilo.
Ganancial said that they are targeting more than PHP600,000 income during the three-day event.
Since the "Weekend Tienda sa Iloilo" was launched in December last year, Regional Director Ro-Ann Bacal of the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) 6 noted that the agency was able to help a lot of entrepreneurs not only in promoting their products but also in gaining market opportunities.
She said that they are hoping that other provinces in the region, especially the capital towns, will replicate the event in their respective areas so they can also assist their entrepreneurs. (PNA)
