BALANGA CITY, Bataan -- Most cemeteries in this province on Thursday were almost empty of visitors but conspicuously present was a mother who still tended to the tomb of her son, which she designed like a typical bedroom.
November 2 is observed as All Souls' Day in the country.
The love of a mother is endless which this businesswoman, Lilia Angeles, 59, of Balanga City, continues to pour out to her son who died seven years ago.
Lilia and her husband constructed a mausoleum at the Eternal Shrine Memorial Park in this city for their son, Jayson Aquino Angeles, a call center agent, who, at 28, died after being comatose following a heart attack.
The interior of the mausoleum looks like a typical bedroom, with the tomb covered with a bedsheet, complete with throw pillows.
With the pillows is a Kon doll, which, Lilia said, was her son’s last souvenir for her that he bought while on vacation in Singapore.
A framed picture of Jayson, a Saint Benilde College graduate, is on top of a cabinet in one of the corners of the “bedroom.”
Two toy cars, one of which was the last Christmas gift that Jayson received, were on display. Walls and the ceiling are complete with decorative items.
The windows are with flowing curtains and the frontage can be opened through a wide sliding glass door.
A chandelier and CCTV camera were installed on the ceiling.
There is a small sofa set and a reclining chair.
“Gusto kong ipadama sa aking anak ang habang-buhay kong pagmamahal kaya lahat ng makakaya ko ibibigay ko sa aking anak. Gusto kong ipaabot sa kanya na mahal na mahal ko siya at ginagawa ko ito para sa kanya (I want to make my son feel my eternal love for him. Thus, I will give my son all that I can. I want to tell him that I love him very much and I am doing this for him)," Lilia said.
Jayson was the second child of the Angeles couple. They have another son and a daughter. (PNA)
