CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, August 6 (PIA)--More than 400 learners in Santiago City benefitted from the free Tetanus Diptheria vaccine from the Department of Health (DOH) and the Santiago City Health Office.
The vaccination was administered by health officials from the DOH and the City Health Office of Santiago during the launching of the School-Based Immunization program at the Santiago City North Central School.
DOH Assistant Secretary Ma. Francia Laxamana led the anti-measles vaccination during the ceremonial vaccination which signals the start of the simultaneous school-based immunization program in Santiago City on August 5, 2019.
Laxamana lauded the leadership of the local government of Santiago City and DepEd-Santiago City for their support in the school-based immunization program of the government.
She said through vaccination, children can develop immunity without suffering from the actual diseases that vaccines prevent.
She further urged parents to let their children be vaccinated of anti-measles to ensure their health while growing. These vaccines, she added are given free by the government.
“We have targeted 95% among school children in the country to be vaccinated with anti-measles to ensure their protection,” Laxamana added. (ALM/MGE/Isabela)
