Three fishermen from Ilocos Sur who went missing after they sailed in the west Philippine Sea last Sunday morning were rescued by a search and rescue team Monday afternoon while in mid-sea on board their crippled boat.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) said the fishermen left their homes in Barangay Gabao, Santiago, Ilocos Sur to catch fish but had not returned home since then.
PDRRMC action officer Sigfred Duquing identified the three fishermen as Norlie Liclican, 26; Nilo Etrata, 30; and Judel Escalona, 18; all of Barangay Gabao, Santiago town.
They were rescued by fellow fishermen while they were heading east-ward on board their boat marked "K" which they were manually rowing.
“The three missing fishermen were safely returned to their respective homes,†Duquing said.
According to Duquing, the three were not able to return home last Sunday afternoon when the generator of their boat suffered mechanical trouble while in mid–sea. - by pna.gov.ph
