BACOLOD CITY -- A total of 25 inmates of the Metro Bacolod District Jail-Female Dormitory (MBDJ-FD) were found negative for illegal drugs.
The results of Monday's random drug test were announced by the jail management in their official Facebook account, accompanied by a photo of the drug testing kits used by the inmates.
The drug test, which used urine samples, was conducted by Jail Officer 1 Carmena Ingente, who is also the jail nurse.
The test was initiated as Chief Supt. Deogracias Tapayan, newly-installed acting chief of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), expressed his commitment to clear all jails of illegal drugs and all forms of contraband, and to improve the management of jail facilities as directed by President Rodrigo Duterte.
“The MBDJ-FD is one with acting BJMP chief Deogracias Tapayan in his campaign against illegal drugs inside all jail facilities,” the jail management added.
The female jail facility, located in Barangay Handumanan, houses more than 150 inmates.
On Monday, Tapayan also launched the BJMP’s community hotline campaign dubbed “e-Tap mo si Sir Taps”, which aims to gather information, complaints, and jail concerns from the public.
The e-Tap hotline is a feedback mechanism to provide the public a direct and convenient channel of communication for the immediate action of the BJMP. (PNA)
