Mandaue City’s budget for 2010 will hit P1.19 billion if the proposed second supplemental budget is approved without cuts.
The second supplemental budget, amounting to P40.95 million, was referred to different committees for review.
It is needed “to meet the necessary expenditures of the city.â€
From an original amount of P894.5 million, the city’s budget was augmented with a supplemental measure for P264.93 million, approved last July 28.
Councilor Beethoven Andaya sponsored the proposed second supplemental budget, on which the committee on laws is expected to report in the next session. Andaya heads the committee on appropriations, budget and finance.
The proposed supplemental budget will be sourced form tax revenues, including business taxes, Internal Revenue Allotment, operating or service income and the 20 percent development fund.
Among the expenses covered by the first supplemental budget for 2010 were senior citizens’ benefits, road maintenance and the purchase of garbage trucks and other vehicles.
It also included a tax mapping system and automation, for better revenue collections. (PNA)
