Boracay policemen arrested a trader from Marawi City for allegedly stabbing a friend who failed to settle his P900 debt.
Investigators identified the victim as Fernando Avila of Barangay Libertad, Nabas.
Avila, in critical condition, is under treatment in a hospital in nearby Kalibo, Aklan.
Police said Abdul Ismael, the principal suspect, was in their custody.
They said Ismael will be charged temporarily with attempted homicide. But if Avila will die, the suspect's case will be upgraded to homicide.
They related Ismael would face preliminary investigation before the Aklan Provincial Prosecutor's Office.
Police report said Ismael asked the victim to pay his debt but the latter refused. - PNA
