COTABATO CITY. -- Maguindanao police operatives on Sunday arrested three high profile drug personalities in separate anti-drug operations in two towns in Maguindanao.
Talking to reporters Monday, Chief Supt. Theodore Sindac, police director of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), said the suspects were arrested during operations in the towns of Talitay and Barira.
Collared first following a weeklong surveillance operation was Wahida Laguia, 29, believed to be courier of illegal drugs of big-time drug syndicate in Talitay.
Joint police, anti-narcotics agents and elements of 19th Infantry Battalion had placed Wahida under surveillance after reports she had been pushing prohibited drugs preying on local officials and students.
Sindac said government forces arrested Laguia in her residence at Sitio Kling, Barangay Kuden, Talitay at around 9:30 a.m. and seized from her three big sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride with an estimated Php24,000 street value.
Also seized from Laguia were two unregistered Kawasaki motorbikes believed to be carnapped. She is now detained at the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-ARMM) detention cell in Cotabato City.
In Barira, police and PDEA-ARMM agents backed by elements of the Army’s 37th Infantry Battalion arrested Karudin Baranada Amigos, 36, for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Seized from Amigos were two sachets of prohibited drugs and illegal drug paraphernalia.
Also in Barira, police and military personnel arrested Sunday afternoon, Guiarodin Sangkad, 42, in Barangay Korosuyan.
Seized from him were two sachets of shabu and paraphernalia.
Sindac said the three arrested suspects were considered high - value target who have volunteered to surrender last year during the implementation of Oplan Tokhang.
Police probers are now interrogating the suspects to determine their source of illegal drugs in Maguindanao. (PNA)
