Lengthened water service interruption in Laoag
LAOAG CITY, July 1 (PNA) -- Over the past two months, some residents living in elevated areas of Laoag City continue to experience lengthened water service interruption due to water scarcity.
On Tuesday, all barangays on the east part of Bacarra road and south of the Padsan river had water service interruption for almost 24 hours due to the replacement of a 20-horsepower submersible pump and motor pump 27 in Barangay 29.
Like Raiza Respicio, she said her family literally bathed under the rain as the Ilocos Norte Water District (INWD) failed to bring back water service the whole day of June 30. According to INWD, they failed to restore water service immediately due to a delay in the welding process of interconnection.
“At the moment, we are still working on the welding process of the interconnection. We apologize for this lengthened water service interruption but we assure that we will get the work done as the General Manager is on site at the moment. Thank you for understanding,†said an advisory of INWD posted on Facebook with a number of netizens airing their dismay about the on-going water problem in the city.
Amidst the occurrence of rainfall for the past few days due to a low pressure area, Ilocos Norte is still experiencing weak El Nińo condition, according to Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
“Recent analyses from global climate models suggest that the on-going El Niño condition will likely to continue until mid-2015 with chances of strengthening toward the end of the year,†PAGASA added.(PNA)
