20-year-old Midsayap burger joint worker kidnapped
By John Unson
NORTH COTABATO --- Gunmen snatched Friday a worker of a burger joint while on his way to work from a Friday worship rite in a mosque in Midsayap town in this province.
The Midsayap police office has confirmed the abduction of the 20-year-old Jake Omar Talusan but has no clue yet on who were behind it.
Witnesses said Talusan was on a motorcycle from a mosque in Barangay Sadaan, Midsayap en route to the Jollibee branch in the center of the municipality when gunmen flagged him down and forced him into a black, heavily-tinted van parked nearby.
Relatives told reporters via online Messenger that Talusan had sent a text message to his parents saying he was spirited by his captors to Digos City in Davao del Sur, about three hours away via overland travel from Midsayap.
Intelligence agents of the North Cotabato provincial police are now trying to track him down and his abductors, according to regional police spokesman Lt. Col. Aldrin Gonzalez.
Friends of Talusan told police investigators he has no known enemies and that he is a religious person who does not skip obligatory Islamic Friday worship prayers in the mosque.
