KIDAPAWAN CITY, Aug. 11 -- The local government here launched Friday “Task Group Kidapawan” to strengthen security and deter terror plots in the city.
Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph Evangelista said the task force is composed of police and military personnel to ensure lawless elements could not enter the city and conduct terror acts.
The Task Group is led by Lt. Col. Noel Luoang, of the Army’s 72nd Infantry Battalion, and under him are composite personnel from the Army’s 39th and 72nd Infantry Battalions, both based in Makilala, North Cotabato.
“We already equipped them with the necessary training with regards to the manner of protocol, search, response, arrest and counter-tactical procedures,” Evangelista said.
During the ceremony, the LGU also turned over one mobile patrol, eight tri-cabs and communication equipment to be used for its operation.
Evangelista said the creation of task group was recommended by the Kidapawan City Peace and Order Council (KCPOC) and was approved by the Kidapawan City council.
“This move is necessary to protect our constituents against the threat of terrorism and maintain the integrity of our city,” Evangelista added.
He added that the action of the city council was in support to Pres. Duterte’s declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao. (John Andrew G. Tabugoc/PNA)
