San Miguel Corporation spreads holiday cheer with social projects
MANILA, Philippines - In a statement released on Christmas Day, Ramon S. Ang, the president and vice chairman of San Miguel Corporation (SMC), expressed his gratitude and commitment to the Filipino people, especially those who are facing difficulties amid the pandemic.
"Christmas is the season of giving, and for us at San Miguel, it’s always about giving back to our country and fellow Filipinos. We continue to work on impactful projects all over the country to help address challenges like poverty, hunger, lack of access to education, infrastructure development, as well as inequality, even among our regions. This is our way of spreading the holiday spirit, by providing hope of a better tomorrow. May the season be filled with the joy of helping others. From our San Miguel family to yours, Merry Christmas!" Ang said.
Ang, who is also the president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Top Frontier Investment Holdings, Inc., the largest shareholder of SMC³, has been leading the company's various social initiatives, such as providing food assistance, medical equipment, testing kits, vaccines, and quarantine facilities to support the government's response to the COVID-19 crisis.
SMC has also been investing in infrastructure projects, such as the Skyway Stage 3, the MRT-7, the Bulacan International Airport, and the Pasig River Expressway, to create jobs, boost the economy, and improve the mobility and connectivity of the people.
Moreover, SMC has been implementing programs to promote environmental sustainability, such as the cleanup of the Tullahan-Tinajeros River System, the adoption of renewable energy sources, the reduction of plastic waste, and the protection of wildlife habitats.
Ang said that SMC's vision is to make a positive difference in the lives of Filipinos, not only during the holiday season, but all year round.
"We are not just a business, we are a partner in nation-building. We are here to serve the people, to uplift their well-being, and to contribute to the common good. We are inspired by the resilience, the generosity, and the faith of our fellow Filipinos, who have shown us the true meaning of Christmas," Ang said.
