TESDA lauds KABALIKAT awardees

Davao City (31 August 2005) -- This year's KABALIKAT Awards of the the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) recognizes the 1st Congressional District of Davao City, Lapanday Foods Corporation, and Jolibee Foods Davao for their contribution in the promotion of the country's middle level manpower.
KABALIKAT Award is one of TESDA's reward mechanism in giving due recognition and honor to partners in the promotion and enhancement of technical education and training (TVET).
The awardees have contributed in the form of training sponsorships, donation of training machine and equipment, supplies and materials and other support services.
Davao City 1st Congressional District Representative Prospero Nograles was given the award for his being a promoter of human resource. From his Priority Development Assistance Fund, he allotted P1.6 million for education assistance in the whole province. In 2004, P3 million was given for trainings, facilities, and infrastructures.
Nograles' son ,Karlo, who received the award in behalf of his father said, " In 2006, we will provide more funds . As public servants, we do not expect anything in return. We only expect to change many lives. It's enough for us to see the smile of those we have changed lives."
The Lapanday Foods Cooperation through its Lapanday Skills Training Center was also warded for conducting responsive trainings and for launching the Study Now Pay Later Program that accommodated 33 scholars.
" Training our people is Lapanday's core value. It is important to develop our manpower from mere agricultural workers to industrial,skilled workers." Said Lapanday Senior Vice President Francisco X. Lorenzo.
Other awardees are Astred A. Cajes for Best Community Training and Employment Coordinator (CTEC) city category, and Bernadeth Saladaga for the municipal category.
Special awards are given to Davao city 1st District councilor Leonardo Avila, 2nd district councilor Dante Apostol, Atty Karlo Nograles, Nicanor Fabracuer Sr., and Delma Jumala.(PIA/ Mai B. Gevera)
