MANILA, Aug. 13 -- Kabacan Elementary School swept all its elimination round assignments to lead the semifinalists in the Philippine Sports Commission-Kadayawan Girls Volleyball tournament at the University of Mindanao gym in Davao City.
Kabacan Elementary School (KES), the 2017 Davao Children's Games champion, will face Vicente Hizon Sr. Elementary School (VHSES), while Talandang Elementary School will battle Tambobong Elementary School.
KES defeated Tambobong Elementary School (25-18, 25-20), Sirawan Elementary School (25-14, 25-13), VF Corcuera Elementary School (25-23, 25-9) and Matina Central Elementary School (25-8), 25-7).
Talandang and Tambobong both have identical 3-1 (win-loss) records after the elimination round of the three-day tournament held in celebration of the Kadayawan sa Dabaw Sports Festival.
Tournament director Abet Bernan of the Balibolista de Dabaw said he was impressed with the players from the Talandang and Tambobong teams.
"Magagaling sila, may potential ang mga bata," Bernan in a statement released by the PSC on Sunday.
Talandang and Tambobong players attended the clinic conducted by Bernan on Saturday. He was assisted by University of Mindanao sports director Joaquin "Boy" Sarabia.
The PSC-Kadayawan Girls Volleyball tournament is organized n coordination with the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO), Philippine Sports Institute, Department of Education Davao City and UM.
Meanwhile, PSC chairman William "Butch" Ramirez and PSC Commissioner Charles Raymond A. Maxey graced the opening ceremony of the Kadayawan Dragon Boat tournament held at Sta. Ana Pier. (PNA)
