3 VEHICLES IMPOUNDED TODAY AS I-ACT INTENSIFIES ITS ANTI-COLORUM OPERATIONS DUE TO HEALTH HAZARDS POSED BY ILLEGAL TRANSPORT ACTIVITIES
The InterAgency Council for Traffic - IACT for Traffic (I-ACT) is enhancing its anti-colorum activities as illegal transport activities pose health hazards and increased virus transmission during community quarantine season.
I-ACT SOT, comprised of operatives from I-ACT, PCG, PNP-HPG and LTFRB conducted an anti-colorum operation, on top of its traffic laws and health protocols enforcement in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan this morning. Among the 3 vehicles impounded today were 2 illegal shuttle vans and 1 jeepney without special permit.
Additionally, 9 private motorists were issued tickets, most of them were riders plying the roads without wearing appropriate motorcycle helmet.
Also inspected during the duration of the said operation were trucks which according to reports are being used to illegally transport civilians to Metro Manila and nearby provinces. An LTFRB-led operation conducted last week in Bicol apprehended colorum vehicles and trucks which were used to transport civilians amid the travel restrictions imposed during quarantine period. Alarmingly, 79 passengers of the said apprehended colorum units were found out to be positive of the COVID-19 virus - a disturbing conclusion that colorum operations not just illegally transport people but also transport virus and other health hazards.
I-ACT assures the public that it will increase its road inspections especially its anti-colorum operations to answer the increase of illegal transport activities in the region.
