MANILA – Two more cops succumbed to the coronavirus disease 2019, bringing the Philippine National Police (PNP) death toll to 44 as of Sunday.
The PNP confirmed in a statement that the fatalities were both from the Police Regional Office-Central Luzon.
The 43rd fatality was a 53-year-old officer who died on Saturday in Bataan due to severe pneumonia while a 48-year-old from Bulacan became the 44th victim on Sunday.
PNP’s total active cases increased to 2,400, with 233 new infections, while 278 new recoveries raised the tally to 14,751.
