CALAMBA CITY, Laguna -- Several jeepney routes in the second and third districts of Laguna were affected by the transport strike staged by the Stop and Go Transport Coalition on Monday.
Rommel Palacol, Laguna Action Center head, said the affected routes were Los Banos-Calamba City and Los Banos-Sta Cruz.
Palacol said they noticed a decline in the number of jeepneys plying the said routes as early as 7 a.m. on Monday.
There were no stranded passengers reported as buses and tricycles also ply the said routes.
Palacol, however, assured of stand-by buses and trucks from the Laguna provincial government and Laguna Police Provincial Office to ferry stranded passengers.
He said they have been monitoring the cities of San Pedro, Sta Rosa and BiƱan since early Monday morning and noted that the number of jeepneys in the major thoroughfares has not declined.
No cancellation of classes and work was announced. (Roselle Aquino/PNA)
