CALAUAN, Laguna – A swimming escapade turned tragic when a four-year-old child drowned around 10:40 a.m. on Sunday at the Lucidel Fishing Resort and Restaurant in Barangay Bangyas here.
Calauan police case officer, Senior Police Officer 1 (SPO1) Lemuel T. Ilao, on Monday said that resort worker Henry Lanorio Natiola reported the incident around Sunday noon.
Ilao said the young victim, a resident of the National Housing Authority (NHA) Site 1 in Barangay Dayap, drowned in the swimming pool of the fishing resort.
According to Ilao, 12 year-old Jana Odper Mejorada, Grade 7 student and also a resident of Barangay Dayap, saw the victim and immediately sought assistance from resort worker Rudy Claro Igham.
He said Igham took the child out of the water and administered first aid before the victim, accompanied by her family, was taken to the Pagamutang Pangmasa ng Laguna (PPL), a government district hospital in Bay, Laguna.
However, the attending physician declared the victim dead on arrival. (PNA)
