BANSALAN, DAVAO DEL SUR –The Davao del Sur Provincial Office (DSPPO) relieved this town's acting chief of police after he went amok at a refreshment store in Digos City, Davao del Sur.

Davao del Sur Police Provincial Office (DSPPO) deputy director for administration Supt. Deozar Almasa said Sr. Insp. Florante Retes is now under their custody to pave way for the investigation.

“If found guilty with the case, the officer has committed misconduct that could be grounds for suspension or if grave misconduct he might be removed from the service,” he said.

He said the DSPPO is now conducting pre-charge investigation to get evidence and also to hear the side of Retes.

Retes , who was reportedly drunk last Friday night, went to Sunshine 24/7 Mini Mart and Bibingka Specialty in Digos City and harassed the employees there after he was not given a liquor.

One of the employees in the said establishment, who asked not to be named for security purposes, told Davao reporters that Retes allegedly shouted at them when she refused to serve liquor to him.

“Nigawas ko kay naglubo naman gud kay gibunal na niya ang isa ka case sa Red Horse. Tapos tong akong gipangutana, iya kung gidukol tapos giingnan ko nga ngano palag ka (I went out of the store because I heard a thud because he banged a case of bottles of Red Horse and when I asked him what is happening to him, he slapped me in my nape)? ” the employee said.

She explained that their establishment stop serving liquor around 9:30 p.m because the store does not want to cause disturbance to the residents in the area.

She said Retes was not satisfied on what he had done and he showed his pistol tucked on his waste and threatened them.

“Niingon pa siya nga balikan tamo ah, inig balik nako dapat sarado nami (He told us that we must close our store when he returns),” she said.

The employee said because of the incident, they took video of the incident and uploaded it to Facebook and that video became viral with 3,000 shares. However, she concealed it later on because the wife of Retes went to their store and appealed to delete the video because it will ruin the reputation of his family. (Armando Fenequito Jr/PNA)
